blogger faces multi-million dollar lawsuit


A US advertising firm that works for Maine's Office of Tourism has slapped a multi-million dollar lawsuit on a blogger over journalism published on his website. The Media Bloggers Association of which I am a member, is taking up the case.

The blogger, Lance Dutson, ran an advertisement taken from the website of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development. Problem was that when you rung the number it referred you to a sex line.The blogger is being sued for pointing that out.

"This case is nothing more than an attempt by a deep-pocketed litigant to bully a blogger for criticizing state officials and state contractors", said MBA President Robert Cox."We have successfully defended MBA members in nine previous cases and I don't expect the outcome here to be any different."
