more criminals enter the police

More criminals are entering the police because the Government committed itself to 1000 extra frontline police. So to do it they are letting in criminals and dropping standards. Police bosses have said that 25 2006 applicants had minor convictions and had they been able to defend themselves at the time many would not have been convicted.

So convictions are not about whether you break the law, they are about whether you have enough money to defend charges. If so, you have a better chance of getting off. That's why the poor are likely to be criminals and rich people like All Blacks are able to have diversion, not once, but twice. Next thing we`ll be having applicants to Police College getting diversion to cut down the number of police with criminal convictions.
