obviously we are not the average household

Apparently, in 2003-2004 the average household spent $142.50 a week on food. That means some "average families" spend a lot more - maybe even $250.00 or more each week.

What on?

The average household has 2.7 people and our household has more than that and we would be lucky to spend $110.00 in an expensive week - in 2006. In fact, back in 2003 when we had closer to 2.7 people in our family we spent $85.00 a week on food - and that included all stuff from the supermarket including toiletries and alcohol.

Apparently $15.00 a week was spend on cereals in 2004. That's about 5-6 large packets of weetbix on special!

No wonder low income people are going under if they spend close to this much on food each week. Don't they look at the specials? What on earth do they buy? McDonalds each night? Or do they do all their grocery shopping at dairies, star marts and and petrol stations and buy ready cooked chickens from the supermarket instead of cooking?

If you have fewer than five kids and your family spends more than $200.00 a week at the supermarket, leave a comment and I will offer some budgeting advice for the fee of four weeks reduction in your supermarket spending.

What spend less than $200 a wk on food!

I've probably spent that on my kids birthday party this week.

It's choice man, some have it and others don't.

Why do you think so many vote Labour, rich people can afford it.
