Families Commission promotes opposition to physical discipline

It appears so. A couple of Ardijah band members are promoting a panel - dubbed "The Couch" - of up to 10,000 families which the Families Commission aims to recruit to advise it on family policies. The band members are converts to the opposition of physical discipline of chidren. Pehaps the Commission made sure of that before they signed them up as spokes people. The commission has already signed up 900 families through its networks and wants to hear from thousands more. The first poll is being emailed out today.

I have a few questions on this: Firstly, why do you have to have e-mail to be polled? Do you have to be part of the Families Commission networks - ie: Plunket, Banardos, Childrens Commissioner etc - to be given the first chance to be polled? Does it help if you support the Government view of the day?

If so, that's Government-funded elitism.

Perhaps that's why this tax-payer funded body is called the Families Commission and not the Commission for Families. The Commission is more important to the Government than the families that it is supposed to serve, in a very similar way that power is more important to the Government than the people it is supposed to govern.
