Marriage Bill likely to be a dead duck
Thanks to Don Brash, National has scuppered the Marriage (Gender Clarification) Bill by treating the issue as one of conscience.
This means it will likely be defeated. I`ll link tomorrows Herald story later.( No I won't, it doesnt say anything this blog hasn't already said.)
UPDATE The bill has failed. There were 47 votes for and 73 against. One Labour MP supported the bill, 12 National MPs and two NZ First MPs opposed the bill. United Future and Act voted for the bill and the Greens opposed it. Now will any of those MP's who opposed the bill have the balls to do a bill amending the Marriage Act to let all couples marry.
THe answer is no and the reason is obvious
