Minor Parties and margins

The election results are here Looking at the minor parties, its interesting to see that Destiny got more than five times the number of votes than Christian Heritage - and more than Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party. The wasted vote this year was only 26,299 votes - about 1.5% - and I'm not counting party votes for the Maoroi Party in that figure. Just one minor party got over 10,000 votes and just two parties got over 5,000 party votes.

The Maori Party got 40,488 votes, all of which has no influence in the make up of Parliament so effectively they are wasted votes that are not reallocated.

In terms of margins, The smallest was Labour's Darren Hughes in Otaki with just 266, and the biggest was Labour's Taito Phillip Field with 13,860.
