Marae TV Debate
Destiny Party is one of just three parties to stand seats in all Maori Electorates. The Party is polling higher than the Progressives, who got on the TV3 debate thanks to a judges decision. Now Destiny, based on that decision, want to get on the Marae Debate
And thanks to a stupid arbitrary decision by TV3 that lead to a court decision, I cannot see any reason why Destiny should not appear on the programme -after all they are the third highest polling party who are standing candidates in all Maori seats.
If Destiny does get on the programme, we may even get a campaign where two parties have gone to court and another is defending a complaint to the Broadcasting Standards Authority.
Back to the TV3 debarcle. One post worth reading is This one from Keith Ng who was at the debate by a sheer set of coincidences. Murray McCully notes in his latest newsletterthat the TV3 debate was outrated by Coronation Street. Perhaps United Future and the Progressives would have been better going to the courts to see if they could have got a free party political broadcast during the ads of Coronation Street, with the media made to report the ad breaks for maximum exposure for the papers and news the following day.
They would have got more viewers - and more speaking time as John Campbell wouldn't be in the studio. But the worm would not doubt havebeen missing. Imagine the court precedent, though.
