Adams family values
I was going to blog about this yesterday but it got a bit late. United Future MP Paul Adams and his daughter have resigned from United Future and Paul Adams is standing as an independant MP. This means, as he has resigned from a party, he keeps his MP salary for four months. It appears he decided months ago to quit the party but did not tell Peter Dunne until the dissolution of Parliament. This was because he had given his word that he would do his part to ensure that United Future provided stable support to the Government for three years. But Paul Adams really hated party politics and despised Labour's gay groups. One of his sayings I recall the last time we met was " It's not right"
He claims not to have known "one way or the other" what happened with his salary. Do you believe him?
He also claims he has as good a chance of getting into Parliament as an independent as he would have had on the United Future ticket.
I`ll have to agree on that one! Murray McCully's majority was more than half the total votes Paul Adams got at the last election
Meanwhile Graham Capill has lodged an appeal against his sentence on child sex offences as he considers his sentence manifestly excessive. However the appeal won't be heard until next year. Let's hope for a public repentance before then - and an increased sentence.

Drivers on Constellation Drive on the North Shore might like to look out for the people waving posters advertising Mr Adams. The worrysome thing is the look of near religious ferver on their faces...
As for Capill's appeal, does anyone else feel as angry as I do about the fact that his victims will have to relive that ordeal all over again if it is granted?
And doesn't this imply that he's still in denial about the gravity and seriousness of his offence?

Craig, yes and yes.
Yeah, an appeal is really just rubbing salt in the wound.
I'm not sure any judge is going to look favourably on this.
Does anyone else wonder if there were other offenses? I know I do.
