The Liberals are actually in trouble because of incumbency fatigue and a rather corrosive bureaucratic/regulatory scandal of some sort.
In any case, seven out of Canada's ten provinces already have same-sex marriage, so it doesn't matter if the federal legislation goes ahead or not.
