Dying at A&E

Today, the Dominion Post reported on a woman that died at Wellington's A&E, due to lack of care. Wellington hospital staff told the Coroners Court that procedures have changed to avoid this happening again Problem was, that the Coroner had already told the hospital staff to change its procedures more the two years ago after an earlier death.

So the question remains: Are the procedures changed? What is the minister of Health doing about this? She'd be doing something about it if it was her daughter that died.
The Dominion Post ( when it was the Evening Post) campaigned for the hospital to remain at Newtown. Now that it is, and given that Newtown after hours is to cut its hours, perhaps the paper can now campaign for the hospital to aadequately treat paptients that turn up at A&E instead of leaving them to die.

The treatment at A&E is akin to dialling 111 - you never know if you`ll be treated seriously.
