Law Commission headed by Labour Party donor.

He gave $10,983 to the Labour Party last year. He assists the Labour Party when it is in strife. He once headed the Labour Party. He is Sir Geoffrey Palmer, new head of the non-partisan Law Commission.

National MP Murray McCully notes such an appointment is normally a seconded High Court judge, who "stands very aloof from party politics".

Is this putting the bridle on 'unbridled power', in terms of legal advice?

You're right, although Palmer's most recent advocating of the removal of sedition must've annoyed his good friends across the road from Chen Palmer...

Oh, Palmer also appointed Clark back in the day as his deputy, which was pretty unexpected as I remember.
