babies born to beneficaries
Lindsay Mitchell thinks too many beneficaries are too busy getting pregnant again and implies that beneficaries plan babies while on a benefit, because the Medical Council says so. As one who has had a partner give birth - although not conceived - while on a benefit, it would be interesting to see how many of the beneficary babies were concieved while the parents were not beneficaries - and if the conception was to a mother on the DPB, whether the father was named. Perhaps Mitchell may leave a comment clarifying the matter.

One, we need more sex education in schools. Two, as an evangelical,
aren't you at least happy that they're choosing to continue their pregnancies instead of the other choice they might make?

Sure, Chuck, when straight blokes like you do something about straight men's responsibility for unwanted pregnancies in this country...

craig, in hindsight, look what happened to the Kahui family who chose to continue pregnancies. Killing kids by abortion is no different than what happened to the Kahui twins - in fact you may think it is a lot worse to murder after birth...
Could I note that, yes, indeed I do feel nauseated by what happened to the Kahui twins, but the nineties were a period of savage slashbacks in social services, and they still haven't fully recovered.
If something had been done earlier in the lives of whoever killed those poor wee ones in the Kahui household, it might not have had to come to this.
And for the record, I also support the right of a woman to continue her pregnancy, with full government support when she and her partner or household undertake the responsibilities of parenthood.
