familiarity breeds contempt

Fran O`Sullivan says the police are gutless for not prosecuting Heather Simpson over the election overspending. I blogged about that here and here

Its simple. Simpson broke the law. The police refused to do anything about it, and swept the evidence under the carpet. O`Sullivan writes that the Parliamentary Service rules are clear that the leaders' budget should not be used for election advertising or publicity purposes but this was flagrantly overlooked by the police, who instead parroted the politicians' line that the law and parliamentary rules were "unclear, confusing and contradictory".

More will be written on this, I'm sure. This kind of action by police is becoming all too familiar and it is time it stopped.
