Are the Greens inconsistant?

The Green Party doesnt support NZ First list MP Ron Mark's Young Offenders (Serious Crimes) Bill, which would allow for children as young as 12 to be criminally responsible for their crimes. In Scotland, the age is eight.

Perhaps the Greens are not supporting it because they see that pre-teen children are different to adults and should be treated as such.

So why is the party promoting a bill banning smacking because children should be treated the same as adults, but maintaining children should be treated differently when they face criminal charges?

No, they are being consistent.

The Green want to ban all sorts of harmless and even beneficial activity, but when people disregard the law, they don't believe in punishing them.

It suits them to have a society with lots of laws that everyone constantly disregards, because when the revolution comes, it will then be easy to justify locking up anyone who causes trouble.
