so much for changing the law

A 23-year-old woman became the first woman convicted of having sex with an underage boy. Last year it wasn't a crime, but the Government changed the law with a maximum sentence of seven years jail.

And the sentence: 240 hours community service

She's very lucky she is not a man who had sex with an underage girl, because that would have got a prison sentence longer than 12 months. Yes the law has changed, but its time judges stopped wet bus ticket sentences based on a persons gender.

If she was sent to prison there would be no need to issue an arrest warrant for failing to turn up to court to face further charges.
