How many Irish Roman Catholic priests are having sex?

Answer: at least 500 - or to put it another way one in 10. And that's just the ones who are having sex with women. Some are even having kids. That`ll teach them for not using condoms. Time to get rid of this silly enforced celibacy rule.

I wonder if any offspring will be Catholic priests. Just imagaine the speech at graduation from seminary:
"Hello, I`m glad to be standing here today as a new priest. My name is Michael. My dad has been a Catholic priest longer than I've been a Catholic."

Ayone know the figures for New Zealand?

I came across an article on why Catholic Priests aren't allowed to marry. Why Not Married Priests? The Case for Clerical Celibacy. The aha moment for a non-Catholic Priest who was looking to convert was the morning after staying up all night with his sick son. He met up with another priest who had been up all night with a dying child.

You can't do both. If you fully understand the vocations to marriage and to the priesthood — the total availability and self-emptying that each demands — you would not choose to do both.
