Did Jesus exist?
An Italian judge has ordered a priest to appear in court to prove that Jesus Christ lived. The case has been brought after the priest denounced a book, The Fable of Christ, for questioning the historical existence of Jesus. The book's author, Luigi Cascioli, contends that there is no reliable evidence that Christ lived and died in 1st-century Palestine, apart from the Gospel accounts.
The Vatican has refused to comment. Wimps. Vati-cans are still trying to work out which parts of the Bible are actually true, so perhaps they will take the same approach with other historical texts. Would you trust them to give evidence?
How would evidence denouncing or proving the existence of Jesus help anyone in this case? The judge hasn't asked for proof as to whether he is/was the son of God.
Pointless case, isn't it. Particularly as any decision will be based on subjective evidence, not whether or not Jesus actually lived.
Do you think Jesus existed -and if so, was he the son of God? And how do you know?
