Winston clarifies things
Winston says he will not declare his hand before the election.
Winston slips in the polls
Winston says he will sit on the cross benches and not go into coalition with either Labour or National. Winston says he will support the party with the largest number of seats.
Winston says he will offer confidence and supply to the Government if the governing party had the largest number of seats
However Winston will not necessarily vote accordingly unless the Government is under threat.
The media reports that Winston will support the largest bloc - whether it will be left or right.
Winston clarifies that he will support the party with the largest seats, offering confidence and supply.
Winston clarifies it further today - he will support that party as long as it is not in coalition with either the Greens or Act.
What does this mean? NZ First supports National, that’s what.
Act is unlikely to be in Parliament. The Greens are likely to be in power if Labour can form a Government. If so, who will offer confidence and supply? The Maori Party or United Future, that’s who - if they can.
This may even happen if National get the most seats.
However the most stable Government will occur if National gets to form it - depending of course, if Winston decides to change his mind again.
Winston wants a National/United Future Government to provide confidence and supply to because he knows he is much more likely to get his own way. United Future want Winston and his party out of Parliament - in fact Larry Baldock has withdrawn so voters can vote against Winston Peters.
Labour has a problem - will it get confidence and supply?
National has a problem - United Future is at most going to get three MPs unless something drastic happens in the next three days.
NZ First has a problem: Winston Peters.
That sums things up as I see it.
