its all happening
Back from a brief and well deserved holiday to find that National are eight points ahead, the third successive poll that National have been in front, and the biggest lead as well. Must go on holiday more.
It appears that there are two interesting seats in this election: Tauranga and Epsom. I've heard that some Labour supporters are going to vote National to keep Peters and Hide out of Parliament. Not such a good idea. What if Act won Epsom, only got one percent in the polls and did not increase the centre right vote? It could happen.
Or what if National endorsed Rodney Hide, Labour voters turned out in force to vote Richard Worth (who is going to get in anyway) and Act missed out on getting onto Parliament? That’s the fear surrounding Don Brash's decision to run a campaign like FPP in seats like Epsom. Furthermore Brash doesn’t want NZ First in his Government if he can help it. And it appears that Winston favours National if reported comments from NZ First candidate Ann Martin are to be believed. Perhaps Winston thinks he will be able to control Don Brash better than Helen Clark
Who is this Restore All Things In Christ Party? Candidate Robert Wansink - who surely must be Catholictold a meeting down south the other night that all the other candidates represented the anti-Christ and that if people did not vote for him we would burn in hell for eternity.
Just for emphasis he added: "And eternity is a very long time."
Indeed.
Mr Wansink would be interested in this site that lets you see how each MP voted on conscience issues over the years. Wot fun.
Meanwhile Steve Maharey wants to
bring back mothers in laws to help with the raising of families.
"Bring back mothers-in-law is what I say ... It reflects our concern that there are a lot of families - whether it is a health issue, an education issue or a parenting issue - who are struggling."
Well done. Someone tell Maharey that to have a mother in law you have to be married. Maharey hasn’t said too many complimentary things about marriage lately. Why start now?
Finally, anyone know who Stephen Win is? He has authorised an anti-Green pamphlet that appears to have gone nation-wide. Says that the Greens will "create rainbow communities" . Umm, I think that's already been done. He also says that the Greens will teach criminals art in prisons, and offer financial assistance to cannabis growers for alternative employment. Apparently Jeannette Fitzsimons has already attempted to see Mr Win but was stopped by a security guard. Now she has highlighted that these people are Christians after a pamphlet from Miles and Mary Win from the same address has been distributed, with Christian references.
Another leaflet that came in my mailbox over the weekend was by a one J Hawkins, who appears to be on a Christchurch hospital waiting list. This person also sent a leaflet criticising Labour's health policies. He is from the fictitious group NZ Advocates for Timely Health care. I wonder if Stephen Win knows J Hawkins?
Helen Clark claims that National is behind the two pamphlets, part of a "front organisation". A bit like the PSA.
