"A vote for the Maori Party would be a powhiri for Brash," Clark
Labour is not making good moves towards the Maori Party. The Maori Party is not making moves towards National as National wants to scrap the Maori seats.
Yet the Maori party thinks it can win all seven Maori seats It is polling higher than Labour in six of its seats, according to the Maori TV TNS poll
Miss Clark said the Maori Party might be able to hold the balance of power and use it to stop a National government scrapping the seats.
I doubt it. What's the point of list voting the Maori Party when they are likely to get more seats via the electorate votes.
If this poll translates to seats Parliament will be in overhang.
Ands you may wonder how Maori Party candidates are selected. From the party web site:
Our candidate selection process shall be based on the principles of: whanaungatanga, mana whenua, manaakitanga, rangatiratanga, kotahitanga, wairuatanga, kaitiakitanga, mana tupuna/ whakapapa, transparency, fairness, participation, reasonable notice and inclusiveness.
Well, that clarifies that, then.
