Bye bye brothel bylaws?

The High Court has delivered a king hit to brothel bylaws around the country. It has taken away the councils powers handed to it upon the passage of the Prostitution Law Reform Act.It is now legal to operate a brothel fromn any house or business anywhere in Christchurch.

A Christchurch court came down in favour of a brothel owner who challenged the Christchurch City Council's bylaws restricting brothels to an inner-city zone. The Council may appeal, otherwise it could dump similar bylaws of all other councils in the country into the waste basket.
