NZ music month

Well, unless you've been living under a rock you`ll know that we are smack bang in the middle of NZ Music month. I've made my annual trip down to see Brendon Smythe at NZ On Air to get my CD's and DVD's - as well as stickers, posters and buttons - to give away at a NZ Music night we`re running at the Ferryman's Bar next Thursday. No- T-shirts - they`ve run out - but you can get them at Hallensteins this year as they are "commercially available" with a ten percent cut to the Music Commission.

And did anyone see the Shihad Concert at the Aotea Centre? I had to put up with seeing it via C4. And it was so good that it is going to be released on DVD.

And of the subject of NZ Music Month, what has happened to Judith Tizard's annual music quiz to MP's - has anyone seen it? I haven't. Has Tizard slipped up this year?

Good to see, though, that NZ albums are one and two in the charts this week - with Shihad's Love is the new Hate - and the debut album from Welli's own Fat Freddy's Drop straight in at number one.
