speaking of speakers

Margaret Wilson is to be the next speaker. Obvious choice for Labour really, given that Margaret Wilson and Helen Clark go waaaaay back. United Future will vote for her like obedient servants.

Now all we need is the Attorney General position Wilson left vacant to be given to liar "Liarne" Dalziel and the deputy speaker to an MP other than Labour.

If so who will they pick - Jim Anderton, Helen Clark's best man at her wedding?

Judy Bailey has her salary almost doubled to a reported $800,000 - I missed the news tonight and I betcha that wasn’t the lead story. I wonder if her smile was any bigger.

What I couldn’t understand was that they got rid of Richard Long as it was more cost effective having one presenter. Then they let Paul Holmes go as he was demanding too much, but of course that didn’t matter when they were talking to Judy Bailey - she went in for the kill and got her salary doubled. Is she worth twice as much? Do her clothes look twice as good? Does she work twice as hard?

So why double her salary if she does not speak twice as fast?

Incidentally, Steve Maharey and co are upset at Judy Bailey's salary but are quite happy with Labour Party President Mike Williams getting more than half a million.

Finally, what a pleasure to go into a pub and not be consumed by second hand smoke. I`d prefer first hand smoke any day, but it’s the second hand smoke that gets all through your clothes and hair.
