Shihad Is back!

Pacifier, formerly known as Shihad, is now known as Shihad. Officially. The band, along with Fur Patrol, is also among my favourite live and recorded bands from Wellington. According to the boys, "The events surrounding the name change and our choice to be known as Pacifier are well documented. As much as we believed in what we were doing, and the reasons for doing it at the time - the truth is we were wrong."

Shihad is starting to record its sixth album in Vancouver today. Down here in Welli, Pacifier were always known as Shihad anyway, and nothing will change except more new material at the next gig in November. If you want to get a taste of the new stuff download the mp3 samples at http://www.shihad.com

Could it be that Shihad is the only band that has had the same name twice?

Not if you count the artist formerly known as the artist formerly known as Prince.

Okay, let's try this a second time with the typos fixed. (Maybe Blogger can add comment editing at some point - rather than the delete & resubmit process.)

Wasn't the recently released NZ film "Fracture" criticised for looking dated because of the Shihad posters displayed in some scenes? (It's release was delayed for sometime). Now it'll look right up to date.
