Un-civil heterophobes

The intolerant and heterophobic editorial team of the Gay Express has told us what they think of those who have voted against the
introduction of the Civil Union Bill. And told us on the front cover
with all the pictures of the NP's who voted against the bill - with a label: "The ugly faces of homophobia".

So its official is it?. Anyone who votes against introducing the Civil Union Bill into Parliament is homophobic. Anyone who does not agree with a view held by a minority of gay people is a homophobe. The editors got it wrong on two counts - not all are homophobes, and some of their faces are pretty presentable. When an MP is labelled a homophobe just because he or she votes against the introduction of a bill into the House is beyond me.

Those who are doing the labelling need to grow up - and that includes David Benson-Pope, who has accused critics of the bill of 'rank homophobia'.

What would happen if the Christian Challenge Weekly paper took that kind of dickhead attitude and plastered the faces of those who voted for the introduction of the bill and labelled them "The ugly faces of heterophobia"?

Those in the gay community who read that paper would be up in arms. David Benson Pope would immediately fire off a media release. Helen Clark will say it such comments were "sad" ( which seems to be her favourite word lately.

Some people in the gay and political communites need to learn a bit of tolerance. Starting now.

And while you`re at it read this Here's a quote:

If only the Benson-Popes of this world realised that you don't have to be a quivering homophobic anti-gay to oppose civil unions. Their own ideological blindness does not allow them to acknowledge that there are sound reasons for such opposition. A little less of his attempted wit and 'wisdom' would certainly be valued in Mr. Benson-Pope, just as we would be pleased with only a few words well-spoken by a well trained parrot.
